    Why we started Qareeb

    “We wanted to record oral histories in our communities, in our own dialects. Coming from the Levant and living in diaspora, we couldn’t find a tool that understood how we spoke, or that we trusted with what we shared. Too often, our languages are misrepresented and our cultural knowledge becomes someone else’s resource.

    That’s why we started Qareeb. We’re building it with a team committed to privacy, secure infrastructure and keeping knowledge connected to the people it comes from. Starting with SWANA, we’re seeking partners worldwide to build with local communities, keep value close to its source and make it easier to work across languages and borders.”
